What freely covers for couples

Sharing the wonders of the world with a companion is such a special experience. It can be a good choice to pair up when booking travel insurance too, as it ensures identical coverage, reduces admin and simplifies communication in case of issues during your trip. Here are some Freely benefits that may come in handy.

Overseas medical and dental expenses

If you get sick or injure yourself overseas, you may be able to claim unlimited medical expenses incurred overseas. Cover will not exceed 12 months from onset of illness or condition.

Emergency evacuation and repatriation

If necessary, we'll help with emergency evacuation or repatriation to bring you home. Only applies to our overseas plans.

Lost, stolen or damaged luggage

If your luggage gets lost, stolen or damaged, we may reimburse you for the cost of your bag and its contents (limits apply and depreciation may apply). You can purchase additional coverage with our Luggage Item Limit Increase Trip Extra.

Cancellation policy benefits shared among all travellers on the one policy. There’s a lot of detail to unpack in the above, so refer to and read the Combined FSG/PDS for more information. To learn about the Target Market for this product, you can read our TMD.

Remember:

To be covered on the same policy, both travellers need to leave and return to Australia at the same time. Also, the regions and countries visited need to be the same. You'll need both names and dates of birth in order to make a purchase.

Policy benefits are shared amongst all travellers on the same policy. Limits apply.

Find the right cover for your trip

Whether you're on a honeymoon, city break or adventure holiday, all our overseas plans include medical expenses cover, your choice for trip cancellation cover and varying luggage cover limits as standard.

Helpful Tip:

Need extra cover for your couples trip?

Build on your couples travel insurance plan by adding Trip Extras to get pay-per-day cover for activities like motorcycle riding, skiing and adventure sports, as well as increased limits for your valuable items and extra cancellation cover.

Do we need companions/couples travel insurance?

Though travelling overseas is a fabulous experience, it also carries with it many risks, from theft to medical emergencies. You might feel safer travelling with a companion, but things can still go wrong and we believe every traveller should consider getting travel insurance, regardless of their destination or purpose.

Why couples travel insurance is important for domestic trips

The top benefits of having domestic travel insurance with Freely are receiving coverage for cancellations and amendments – like with regards to accommodation or tours, or even pre-paid festivals and big events such as weddings; along with lost, damaged or stolen luggage and flight inconvenience – which includes things like expenses racked up due to delays.

When working out whether to get domestic travel insurance as a couple or set of companions, the best thing to do is weigh up the options, i.e. is the price of travel insurance worth the possible cost of cancellations and amendments for both of you?

What freely doesn't cover

While we aim to provide comprehensive coverage, it's important to be aware of some exceptions in your travel insurance. Please read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Target Market Determination (TMD) that applies to your chosen type of policy. And if you have questions, get in touch with us.

Illegal activities: Our coverage does not extend to any illegal activities.

Coverage may not apply if you exceed the specified limits for alcohol. Our policies do not provide any cover for claims which in any way relate to the ingestion of any non-prescription drug or substance.

Non-emergency treatment: Remember, our insurance is designed for travel emergencies; it doesn't cover non-urgent treatments that can wait until you return home.

Ongoing treatment at home: Ongoing medical treatment in your home country is typically not covered.

Unattended belongings: Personal belongings left unattended in public areas, such as beaches, may not be covered.

Reporting incidents: To avoid claim denial, be sure to report theft or loss within 24 hours to the appropriate authority.

Please also note that our domestic policies do not cover medical expenses incurred during your trip.

2

Have your companion's details ready

Make sure whoever is organising the insurance has the other person's details to hand when it comes to booking, such as full name and date of birth.

3
