What freely covers for groups

Sharing the wonders of the world with travelling companions is such a special experience. It can also be a good choice when booking travel insurance, as it ensures identical coverage, reduces admin and simplifies communication in case of issues during your trip. Here are some Freely benefits that may come in handy.

Overseas medical and dental expenses

If you get sick or injure yourself overseas, you may be able to claim unlimited medical expenses incurred overseas. Cover will not exceed 12 months from onset of illness or condition.

Emergency evacuation and repatriation

If necessary, we'll help with emergency evacuation or repatriation to bring you home. Only applies to our overseas plans.

Lost, stolen or damaged luggage

If your luggage gets lost, stolen or damaged, we may reimburse you for the cost of your bag and its contents (limits apply and depreciation may apply). You can purchase additional coverage with our Luggage Item Limit Increase Trip Extra.

Cancellation policy benefits shared among all travellers on the one policy. There’s a lot of detail to unpack in the above, so refer to and read the Combined FSG/PDS for more information. To learn about the Target Market for this product, you can read our TMD.

Remember:

When booking as a group, all travellers need to leave and return to Australia at the same time. Also, the regions and countries visited need to be the same. You'll need the names and dates of birth of all group members in order to make a purchase.

Cancellation policy benefits are shared amongst all travellers on the same policy. Limits apply.

Find the right cover for your trip

Whether you're travelling with mates, family or colleagues, all our overseas plans include medical expenses cover, your choice for trip cancellation cover and varying luggage cover limits as standard.

Need extra cover for your group trip?

Build on your group travel insurance plan by adding Trip Extras to get pay-per-day cover for activities like cruising, skiing and adventure sports, as well as increased limits for your valuable items and extra cancellation cover.

There’s nothing like a group getaway

There’s no wonder travellers love heading away as a group! Travelling with a group often means cost-splitting (nothing better than renting an epic house overseas, right?), shared responsibilities, safety in numbers and great memories – plus, organising a group trip is easier than ever these days.

Although travelling with other adults can sometimes make the trip easier or safer, things can still go wrong on a group adventure – from lost luggage and interrupted travel plans to medical emergencies and natural disasters.

This is why it’s a good idea to consider travel insurance for your group – and with Freely, you can save when three or more adults travel on the same policy (terms, conditions and limits apply).

Why consider getting group travel insurance?

A group travel insurance policy can provide financial assistance against medical emergencies, trip delays and trip cancellations that your group encounters on a holiday.

For instance, let’s say one of your group members gets sick overseas: not only might they need medical care, which can be very expensive in other countries – but it could also interrupt the group’s travel plans, leading you to miss any pre-booked, prepaid activities and have to book unplanned accommodation.

When a group of adults travel together on the same Freely policy, you’ll all get cover for things like overseas medical, emergency dental and lost, stolen and damaged luggage a benefit, as well as 24-hour access to medical and emergency assistance and telehealth. (Please note that cancellation benefits are shared among all travellers on the same Freely policy.)

For more detail, be sure to read the PDS.

When do I need to buy my group travel insurance?

You can purchase a Freely travel insurance for your policy anytime before your trip begins!

We do, however, suggest groups purchase their Freely policy in advance to make the most of benefits like trip cancellation and amendment, which may provide cover in the event that you have to change your travel plans before the trip begins. (Please note that cancellation benefits are shared among all travellers on the same Freely policy.)

For more detail, be sure to read the PDS.

Top tips for group travel insurance

Here are some helpful tips to consider ...

1

Plan your destinations and activities

Determine where you're going and what you both will be doing during your trip. This will help you choose the right coverage to suit your needs.

2

Have your group's details ready

Make sure whoever is organising the insurance has the other person's details to hand when it comes to booking, such as full name and date of birth.

3

Read and understand the policy

Carefully go through the policy's Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) to grasp the details of your coverage. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to our customer support team – we're here to help.
