Freely’s Overseas Explorer Plan automatically covers a wide range of activities you might do when travelling or studying abroad.
These include abseiling, archery, ballooning, bungee jumping, flying fox, horse riding, jet and banana boating, sail boarding, off-road or 4WD driving (organised tour), mountain biking, jet skiing, kayaking, paragliding, parasailing, snorkelling, white water rafting, surfing, safari tours and scuba diving (up to 30 metres if diving with a diving school or qualified instructor).
If you want to take part in a higher-risk activity, we offer a range of pay-per-day Daily Boosts that you can add to your base policy for the days you need extra cover. Once you’ve added and paid for a Daily Boost using the Freely app, your extra cover kicks in immediately.
For instance, our Snow Sports Boost covers you for skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. Our Adventure Activities Boost extends our cover to things like triathlons, rock climbing, skydiving and trekking. If you’d like to ride a scooter or motorcycle overseas (even as a passenger), you will need to add our Motorcycle and Moped Riding Boost in order to be covered.

Freely can provide cover for students travelling to another country for a university exchange program. However, certain limitations apply, such as the maximum period of insurance we can offer, which is 18 months.
It’s also important to note that university fees are not considered a travel expense under the policy.
You need to add our Motorcycle and Moped Riding Boost at an additional cost to the base policy for all the days you plan on riding or being a passenger, in order to be covered. (Our Explorer Plan alone does not automatically cover moped or motorcycle riding.)
As a general rule, regardless of the bike’s engine capacity, you must be wearing a helmet while you ride and you cannot be racing, participating in a professional capacity or doing motocross. If you’re a passenger, the person driving the bike needs to have a valid licence for riding that vehicle.
Be mindful that there are several terms, conditions and exclusions that apply to this Boost, which you must be aware of before purchasing our travel insurance.

You need to add our Snow Sports Boost at an additional cost to the base policy for all the days you're on the snow in order to be covered. (Our Explorer Plan alone does not automatically cover snow sports.)
Our Snow Sports Boost provides cover for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding – as well as snowmobiling. If you’re planning on going off-piste, we’ll still offer coverage, but only if you're not going against any warnings or local advice. Also be aware that our Snow Sports Boost is not for those who are participating in a professional capacity or racing.

No, we will not pay for claims involving, arising from or related to your impairment due to you drinking too much alcohol which is evidenced by the results of a blood test which show that your blood alcohol concentration level is 0.19 or above (which puts you at nearly four times the legal driving limit in Australia of 0.05).
Keep in mind that a blood test is not always available and may not be the only information about the claim event that we consider. We may also be required to look at the report of a medical practitioner or forensic expert, the witness report of a third party, your own admission, your description of the event or the advice of a treating medical professional.
Be aware that any claims relating to substance or drug abuse (be it over-the-counter, prescription or otherwise), including the use of non-prescription drugs or substances, are not covered by Freely.
