Surf every day in September to fundraise for our partner SurfAid as they help establish life-changing services in remote surf communities in Indonesia and the Pacific.
The annual Make A Wave Challenge invites people around the world to surf (or get in the ocean) every day in September to fundraise for SurfAid, a global not-for-profit organisation working with remote communities in Indonesia and the Pacific to access healthcare, clean water and food security.
This year, we’re inviting Freelies to join us in the challenge and support SurfAid’s life-changing work!
SurfAid trains community health volunteers and mothers on healthy behaviours.
SurfAid works with remote villages to establish water facilities and educational programs that inspire improved hygiene.
SurfAid works with communities to build nutrition gardens and provides agricultural training, cooking classes and education initiatives.
Surf, fundraise, repeat. As a surfer, swimmer or spectator, you can get involved with the Make A Wave Challenge and help raise funds for SurfAid.
Sign up to the Make A Wave Challenge and start fundraising! Invite your friends, family and colleagues to support you as you get in the water every day in September.
When September rolls around, get in the water! You can surf, swim, snorkel, paddle board – just be sure to log your daily sessions in the water and keep fundraising throughout the month.
The funds you raise will be directed to SurfAid’s work with remote communities in establishing healthcare, clean water and food security.
SurfAid is a global 1% for the Planet not-for-profit whose mission is to improve the health, well-being and resilience of remote communities connected to surfers and travellers through surfing.
Their programs are co-designed and delivered by local communities to establish sustainable access to healthcare, sanitation, clean water and food security, across Indonesia and the Pacific.
The Z Zurich Foundation (the Foundation) is a charitable foundation funded by various members of the Zurich Insurance Group.
The Foundation works to unite NGOs, governments, businesses and local communities to drive positive impact across four pillars: mental wellbeing, social equity, crisis response and adapting to climate change.
Donations raised in the Make A Wave Challenge are directed toward SurfAid’s programs helping to deliver healthcare, clean water, sanitation and improved nutrition in Indonesia and the Solomon Islands.
SurfAid specialises in working in isolated villages where the maternal and child mortality rates are some of the highest in the world. Here, SurfAid works with individual communities to achieve long term behaviour change.
Yes, of course! On the days you can’t make it to the water, you can still generate support and donations from your friends, family and colleagues, and support your peers in the challenge.
SurfAid has also introduced a ‘Lay Day’ donation, where you can donate $25 to your own fundraising page on the days you won’t be in the water.
Yes, absolutely! You can surf, swim, snorkel, paddle-board – anything that involves getting active or into the ocean in the month of September.
