What’s covered?
We've simplified travel insurance with our single bundled Essentials Plan that you can build upon with extra coverage. This way, you only pay for the coverage you need on the days you actually need it.
Snow skiing and snowboarding are all about the adrenaline rush, but they can be unpredictable. Add our Snow Activities Boost to your Essentials Plan to waive the snow sports exclusion and be eligible for coverage for snow activities.
Snow sports are eligible for coverage when the Snow Activities Boost is added at an additional cost to the base policy.
Dreaming of carving your way down Japan’s famous Alps, exploring the vast terrain of Canada’s Whistler Blackcomb or skiing the slopes of Aspen, Colorado? Snow sports are exhilarating, but they come with risks – making it important to consider specifically designed travel insurance.
When you add our Snow Activities Boost to your Essentials Plan, here's what you'll get:
We provide coverage for skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing on- and off-piste, provided you are not going against local advice or warnings.
Our Snow Activities Boost offers up to $10,000 worth of coverage for Search & Rescue provided you are not mountaineering, off-piste, or training, competing or participating as an athlete in a professional or amateur context.
We offer some accident coverage for on-piste snow skiing and snowboarding, provided you are not training, competing, or participating as an athlete in a professional or amateur context. The amount differs by state: check our Travel Insurance Policy Document for more information.
Our Snow Activities Boost does not provide coverage if you are mountaineering, doing snow sports off-piste, or training, competing or participating as an athlete in a professional or amateur context. We also do not cover extreme skiing or heli-skiing.
We've made buying travel insurance easier by bundling medical, trip, and belongings coverage in our single Essentials Plan. Get a quote in minutes.
If you need additional coverage for your trip or favorite gadgets, you can build upon the Essentials Plan by adding any of our Trip Extras when buying your policy.

Regardless of how experienced you are, snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding carry a range of risks.
If the worst happens and you need medical assistance up the mountain, travel insurance can help get you to safety and may lend a hand when it comes to covering the cost of treatment.
Freely’s Essential Plan doesn’t automatically cover snow activities, so if you’re planning to snow ski or snowboard on your next adventure, you need to add our Snow Activities Boost (at an additional cost to the base policy).
Best of all, it can be added to your policy in real time – even while you’re away! That means you can embrace last-minute snow trips and only pay for extra cover on the days you actually need it.
Be sure to read your state’s Travel Insurance Policy Document for all terms and conditions that apply to our coverage.
Regardless of which provider you choose, the majority of travel insurance policies do not automatically cover snow sports.
Freely is no exception: our Essentials Plan alone does not cover snow skiing or snowboarding – as these high-risk activities attract a higher premium.
If you plan on doing snow activities on your next overseas holiday, it’s a good idea to consider taking out travel insurance with specific snow sports coverage (such as our Snow Activities Boost) on top of your base policy to make sure you have coverage when you’re on the mountain.
Not doing so can be risky and could leave you having to foot a hefty medical bill if you get injured.
You can add our Snow Activities Boost to your Essentials Plan before your trip or in real-time while you’re away. Simply use the Freely app to add it to your policy and pay for the days you need it.
Be sure to read your state’s Travel Insurance Policy Document for all terms and conditions that apply to our coverage.

This Trip Extra also provides coverage of up to $2,000 for rental equipment.
